And there she went…
Race season 2016 is complete. At least for this guy. Lots of racing left across the state of Wisconsin and the entire country. With my plans for the National Short Track Championships in Rockford and the Falloween 150 being cancelled due to unavoidable commitments, it is a bittersweet time of year for me. To be honest, the long drives and late nights took its toll this year as a new job and a new member of my family got the best of my time. For this guy, I am looking forward to football season, kids school activities, and hunkering down for winter. 2016 was an exciting year for United Race Fans of Wisconsin. Just shy of 100 members, we made a lot of new friends and attended more races than we can count. I hope that we continue to grow, most importantly getting our message out to the masses so we will continue to have local race tracks to enjoy. As my personal life and responsibilities continue to grow, I appreciate all of your participation and if anyone is interested in taking on a role in the group that is a little more involved we have lots of opportunity, most of which can be done right at the track. Please get in contact with me through our facebook, twitter, or unitedracefansofwisconsin.com. My favorite of the season? Always hard to pick one, the atmosphere leading up to the World of Outlaws at Rockford was incredible and unforgettable. The Labor Day race at Slinger Speedway for the Super Late Championship may have been the most exciting race I have seen since Kulwicki/Elliot in 1992. I’ll leave it there for this year. Special thanks to those playing our Fantasy game. and members #002, #019, #022, #044, #045, #080. Enjoy the last few weeks of racing here in Wisconsin and we’ll see you in 2017! Rich Zimpel #001
