If you have netflix or are a stand up comedy fan you may have seen Jim Gaffigan’s latest special called “Cinco”. As his fifth 60 minute special, the name doubles as a tribute to his five children. I would not call myself the biggest Jim Gaffigan fan, however, as a guy who carries a few extra pounds himself, he says out loud a lot of the things that guys of a certain magnitude most likely think about and I can appreciate his take on it quite easily. Combine that with his wife being from Wisconsin, (a few cheese jokes make it in “Cinco”) and having a large family myself Gaffigan’s stand up are a go to in our house.
One of the lead bits in the hour special “Cinco” Gaffigan says, “This is my fifth hour special, one for each of my children, so, hopefully this is the last one.” 2017 marks the forth year of United Race Fans of Wisconsin, and on May 26th I will have one child for each year of ‘URFWI’. Hopefully, this is the last one of only the latter.
The 2017 race season is upon us. I have, you guessed it, 4 races planned for myself before the big event on May 26th. Dells, Slinger, and Madsion (the staples) and maybe a little Tony Stewart and 410 action at Wilmont or Angell Park. ‘URFWI’ has broken many new records this spring starting with our 55 entries into our fantasy game as I type this. We have also received and processed 12 new members requests before a green flag has dropped on the state. With the new member in my family I am looking forward to staying close to home this season. Beaver Dam and Dodge County Fairgrounds offer some of the best competition and shows that do not tend to run much over 3 hours. Slinger is and always will be home to me. And maybe towards the end of summer we can venture out a little further, but after 3 years of building this amazing group and track chasing it’ll be nice to slow down, focus on the weekly programs, try some more in depth blog topics, and save a few miles on the tires.
Look forward to seeing many of you at the meetups this season! Thank you for supporting your local short track programs #atthetrack!
